Project two was focused towards perspective. I decided to make a resin table while keeping the live edge of the wood encapsulated in the middle. I have always wanted to make a resin table, so I found a way to tie it in with my project. Since this projects thinking skill was perspective I put myself into the viewpoint of a tree that was cut down. The descriptions are for an Etsy website, then to sell to the buyer. The perspective of the tree is supposed to grasp the readers attention by giving a second life to a tree that has been cut down.
I was born and harvested from a forest in New York. Growing as a young sapling I once was a healthy living tree. Waiting to inhale your exhale made me blossom. As the years passed, growing well over my years; I fell ill and soon rotted, no longer serving a purpose in this forest.
I was brought to a high school in Pennsylvania and used for an art project. The boy who worked on me used extravagant pastels to cascade my wood with their chalky texture; creating a boy. He carved and stained me. He got his grade, forgot about me, went on with high school, graduated. I felt abandoned once more.
A girl found me years later, (shoved in a corner and forgotten about.) seeing potential in my live uncut edge. She cut me in half splitting me in two. I feared not being whole anymore. I then got strapped down and resin was poured in my middle. The resin bonded me together. Stronger than ever before. When I met the resin with my two live edges it enhanced my insecurities turning me into a beautiful breathtaking blue river. Three total pours went into my torso. I realized who I am inside, heartwood maple. My color is enhanced with mineral oil showing off a ombre of reddish brown to a golden hue.
I am a modern work of art, who will fit nicely in a cozy loving home.
My creator put her heart and soul into making me feel beautiful. Although I no longer beautify the forest of New York. I can now take on the role of holding your most treasured supplies.
If I come broken or damaged please return me to my creator.

I am a shield from the sun, shelter from rain, now protector of your table. During a powerful storm strong winds caused me to plummet to the ground in the Rocky Ridge forest of Pennsylvania. I lay feeling bare with no protection, embarrassed that my roots were not strong enough to hold me. I was later discovered and hacked down to be used for firewood. Set out to dry I didn’t know when my time would come.
I was found by a woman who encouraged me to reach my potential. I was taken to a woodshop, and dispersed into smaller pieces of myself. I began to feel warm and loved again. Each fragment of my durable body has been sliced with care.
My pinewood been weathered for a year. I have tight firm grain, which makes for an ideal coaster. My dried knots and crooks are enhanced by a layer of clear resin that has generously coated as protection from your cold drinks’ condensation.Although I no longer grow, I will grow on you when you use me.
